Interaction Designer

The role of the Interaction Designer  is to apply appropriate user-centered 
design research, analysis and implementation strategies to create high-quality 
innovative user interface designs that deliver a world-class, compelling web 
shopping experience. 

 

Key Responsibilities

§          Collaborate with the product management, marketing, technology and 
creative teams in analyzing business goals and requirements. Prepare and 
present interaction design UI specification requirements documents including 
detailed wireframes (detailed interaction specifications), page flows and 
sitemaps; communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale.

§          Define, evangelize and evolve best practices in interaction design.

§          Define standards to drive organization of site content; define site 
architecture, user flow and naming conventions; adhere to interface design 
standards and industry best practices to maintain consistency and quality 
across applications and websites; help define and adhere to user interface 
style guide. 

§          Stay abreast of and foster adoption for industry best practices 
guidelines, standards and trends, including current user research, to maintain 
and evolve design guidelines. Perform competitive UI analysis and present to 
team to champion and foster excitement for usability and user-centered design 
within the organization. 

§          Participate in usability testing, reviews and evaluations to confirm 
the validity and market reception of the user experience. Translate usability 
and field research findings into design improvements. Ensure usability best 
practices as applied to user flow and information organization. 

§          Create and support the design and analysis documentation, including 
but not limited to requirement definitions, contextual evaluations, personas, 
sitemaps, wireframes, paper or functional prototypes, training materials and 
end-user communications.

§          Coordinate with the creative team, project team and engineering to 
ensure that the sitemap and wireframes are properly executed in the live site.

§          Demonstrate a creative and strategic approach to solving problems.

§          Foster an open and productive atmosphere across functional groups.

 

Requirements

§          Two to five years of experience designing/documenting client-side 
software or complex web applications, delivering artifacts including 
wireframes, page flows, site maps and other related documentation; prefer 
experience designing user interaction experiences for high-traffic consumer or 
e-commerce web sites.

§          Formal training in information or interaction design; bachelor's or 
advanced degree in graphic or information design, HCI, human factors or related 
fields preferred or combination of equivalent related training and design 
experience; familiarity with usability heuristics.

§          Proven experience with user interaction design, usability, 
contextual design, HCI, technical writing processes and methodology, 
demonstrated through a portfolio of work artifacts such as wireframes, sitemaps 
and page flows.

§          Prioritization, planning, negotiation and organizational skills that 
facilitate operating effectively and independently in a fast-paced, dynamic 
work environment; ability to meet aggressive deadlines; experience balancing 
multiple projects concurrently. 

§          Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, 
presentation and collaboration skills; ability to provide constructive feedback 
and respond effectively to constructive feedback. 

§          Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, HTML 
editing tools, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

 

Candidates will be asked to provide/present a portfolio or samples of work 
products including sample wireframes, site maps and page flows.
