Friends of Boston-IA, On Wednesday, March 19, 2008, Boston-IA (http://www.boston-ia.org/) and the New England Chapter of the Applied Voice Input/Output Society<http://www.avios.com/mass/>(AVIOS) will present experts on the use of speech recognition software by people who control their computers and surf the Internet by voice - rather than by using a mouse or keyboard. Molly Corbett, usability specialist and speech accessibility advocate, Kim Patch, founder of Redstart Systems <http://www.redstartsystems.com/> and creator of a program called "Utter Command", and Stefan Sherwood of Nuance Communications <http://www.nuance.com/> (makers of Dragon NaturallySpeaking - the most widely used software for controlling a personal computer by voice) will demonstrate speech recognition software in action, and share their experiences designing accessible software and visiting web sites by voice.
