Director of Project Management
 
The company is a fast growing direct/interactive Healthcare Marketing Agency 
focused on strategy and implementation of marketing campaigns for 
pharmaceutical brands (direct-to-patient).
 
Overview
The Director of Project Management is a senior member of the management team 
with lead responsibility for establishing project management standards and for 
overseeing Project Management and Traffic Management staff, who are in turn 
responsible for project execution and delivery on a daily basis. He or she will 
be a team leader both internally and on client-facing engagements and will have 
P&L responsibility for projects overseen. The Director of Project Management 
will have approximately 6-8 direct reports and will him/herself report to the 
President of the company.
 
§    Need someone who is a project mgmt guru trained at PMI and approaches PM 
as a science
§    Must be very strong in interactive but not necessarily from an ad agency.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee Project Managers and Traffic Managers:
§    Establish and/or refine project management protocols and lead training 
sessions for PM/TM staff;
§    Mentor PM/TM staff and conduct employee reviews and career planning 
sessions;
§    Ensure team cohesiveness and morale;
§    Assume QA responsibility for all PM/TM activities and deliverables on 
client-facing engagements -- work with individual PM/TM staff to ensure 
fidelity of project artifacts and procedures to company standards and to client 
mandates.
Serve as Lead Project Manager on select engagements:
§    Prepare and own the project budget, schedule, and development plan, 
working closely with team members and discipline leads (e.g., Technical 
Director) to define, articulate, and coordinate key deliverables and milestones;
§    Ensure effective allocation of development resources and monitor project 
progress on an ongoing basis;
§    Work with the account executives to ensure client satisfaction and 
proactively manage project risks and client expectations, and to obtain client 
sign-off on key deliverables and contractual documents;
§    Identify and procure appropriate freelance resources when needed to 
support development staff. 
 
Requirements:
§    A minimum of 5 years project management experience in a client-service 
environment;
§    A minimum of 3 years experience as the lead project manager on 
cross-disciplinary (e.g., design, technology, strategy) teams across a range of 
project type, scale, and complexity;
§    Proficiency in formal project management methodologies, including internal 
project documentation and external communications;
§    Thorough understanding of web development and online media and marketing;
§    Familiarity with medical regulatory procedures and experience in project 
delivery for pharmaceutical clients;
§    Demonstrated ability to accurately project timing and associated costs 
across a range of project type, scale, and complexity;
§    Experience-honed approach to risk management and change control;
§    Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to author 
client-facing communications, expository and contractual project documents 
(e.g., Statements of Work), and strategic analyses;
§    Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills;
§    Demonstrated ability to train and mentor other project managers and to 
guide and motivate coherent project
