I would say curiosity and open mind. It also helps me to have a strong technological background in order to find solutions to design needs. This also help me to communicate with developers : to understand their concerns. Even if I won't agree to diminish usability level for ease of programming ; I think it's good for teamwork to understand each other and take others point in consideration.
