The layer selection and active options are a wee bit confusing for
about 2 minutes. IMHO the trade off in removing clutter is well worth
the effort to relearn the behavior. You've got complexity in a rich
application like this that isn't reducible to the same level as a
shopping site -- it's a production tool and thus there is a learning
curve. Even a well designed experience can't always deliver zero
learning curve, but the metric is whether it's efficient and elegant
once learned. 

I think you have done a very nice job with the upgrade. Shared layers
are great and the quick access to editing a shared layer saves tons of
time over moving back and forth to a master layer -- and the visual
cues work well. It's been a few years since I've used Visio
(recovering Visio power user), but OG Pro is so much more gratifying
and productive. Sounds like a commercial I know, but I'm a fan...
still with v.5.
