I am working on an enterprise web app for a certain set of users.  And they
might not hit sign out/ log out often since they have to always perform certain
tasks.

For ecommerce or external web apps my understanding is that sign out is a link
so it is not prominent and we don’t lose the user but I was wondering if there
is any other specific reason? Or standards for sing out/log out.
Regards,
Kinjal

I would say to choose one ore the other depends on the context and design as
well as your underlying business goal / goal of the particular page you want
to implement this.

Can you provide more context?
