As in Interface Administrator my top three IA tasks would be Infrastructure Autopsy, entails speaking with engineering to understand the underlying system architecture as well as users & card sorting
Interaction Assimilation, primarily the re-use of existing patterns in the new design but occasionally building up from metaphors Finally In-situ Approximation, watching users work through the design to see how well it can meet their goals.
