The linked BBC News article is on an art installation, essentially a
webcam linking New York and London.  What I find fascinating is the
reaction from people

"...and for a moment, two groups of strangers, in two cities thousands
of miles apart, jump up and down and smile at one another."

It took an artist to see that people didnt need a stadium sized
screen, High def, rss feeds, surround sound and a plethora of other
'features' to engage users.  Just a webcam, no audio & a whiteboard.
Its simple, un-intimidating yet intriguing.
