IxDA-SF is pleased to have Punchcut this month sharing their insights
on mobile interface design.
Motion design is a key component in emerging device user interfaces.
Designers must go beyond the gloss and use motion and animation to
guide users through an experience. We will discuss and demonstrate
motion design principles that balance utility and dramatic impact to
create memorable, playful and usable branded experiences.
Christian Robertson will discuss the practical benefits of ways
motion can provide meaning. He will discuss and show ways motion
helps users create a mental model of a UI, enabling users to better
anticipate UI behavior. While motion design has its own practice and
considerations, emerging touch UIs have a dependence on motion design
to be successful as gestural UIs demand natural motion to reinforce
input behaviors like taps, flicks and pinches.
