That explains 37Signals' user interfaces! It may make no sense to us, but if we were 'aliens' - it would be completely usable :-)
Alien-Centric Design, of course, is nothing new. A classic example is the unclosed circle with the line through the top, which to us human's makes no sense - but to aliens, it is the symbol for god, and so clearly indicates that you are instantiating an object or device with divine power.
