Will,

I hit enter when I was only partially finished since a sudden meeting came up,
but yeah - a weak shill at best! This shows why I wasn't so hot at
going freelance -
I can't self-promote worth crap!

Anyway, I'm a/the Information Architect at Vitrue: http://www.vitrue.com -
We serve these through our platform which manages the content (photos,
photos, video, audio, text, etc.), ratings, comments, users, language
filters, categories, tagging, media mixing capability and promotions.
We're in process of building syndication (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter,
etc.), Mobile application (upload, iPhone app, mobile management) and
so on - it's an exciting time in an interesting space! In some
senses, we're competing with YouTube, but for the service and product
benefits, it's usually up against ad agencies who do one-off launch
and forget micro-sites. We distinguish ourselves by a richness in
functionality and experience, with a stable but evolving back-end.

The basic idea to our product is to customize the UI according to a
client and their promotion's needs. Of course with each project there
comes special requirements which mean we try to balance between these
requirements and trying to maintain a usable and functional product,
not to mention trying not to burn out our hardworking implementation
team.

The promotion we first did with Adult Swim was a joint contest with
Honda for "Submit a T-shirt Design
and we'll use it unless it sucks, then we won't."
It's no longer online, but the write-up is at:
http://vitrue.com/our-work/cartoon-network-honda-fit-art-contest

Some of our larger scale projects include Captain Morgan's
(http://www.captainmorgan.com), Ben and Jerry's
(http://www.benjerry.com/imagine/) and Klondike
(http://www.klondikecontest.com/)
but the negative scoring comment brought the Adult Swim contests to mind.

So, Kim...
It'd seem that the simple answer would to simply have a rating system
of any sort, and the higher rated would naturally be pushed to the
top, and the lowest would end up on page 2+ (often as good as online
death!) - or would drop out of the listing altogether after a certain
point. If you wanted a "Hall of Shame" grouping, that can be a tag
category, search criteria, or simply a place where they go "If it has
more than ten Ratings that are less than 2". It does seem to bring up
more questions about the kiosk: does it put these confessions on a
site? Is the site linked to another company, service, product? If
it's in Vegas, does it entice with money, booze or sex?

Thanks for the prodding,
Scott
