A not so futuristic scenario - Office, iWork/iLife, Photoshop, etc. all cost $$$, and spreadsheets, documents, movies, etc. aren't easily accessible on all devices at all times. The ability to find and categorize information the web offers, including personal and business information that isn't publicly available, and access it via a variety of devices, will be a great asset to businesses and consumers.
The fact that Google launched chrome in many languages opens many interesting scenarios - China now has more internet users than the US, and the most mobile phone subscribers in the world. I think the cloud offers great potential in countries that have large numbers of mobile users that missed the Web 1.0/2.0 revolution.
