On Wednesday, October 22, 2008, Boston-IA <http://boston-ia.org> (
http://boston-ia.org) is pleased to present Mike Paciello, president of The
Paciello Group <http://www.paciellogroup.com/index.php> (
http://www.paciellogroup.com) and co-chair of the Telecommunications and
Electronic and Information Technology Advisory Committee
(TEITAC<http://www.access-board.gov/sec508/refresh/about.htm>-
http://www.access-board.gov/sec508/refresh/about.htm) — the U.S. Federal
committee charged with revising the Section 508 and Section 255
accessibility standards — talking about "The New Section 508: Modeling
Usability, Interoperability, and Harmonization."

On April 3, 2008, TEITAC presented a historic series of internationally
harmonized recommendations that will bridge the gap between technology and
people with disabilities. Come learn about the new standards and how they
will affect organizations who need to make their web applications and
electronic content comply with the proposed U.S. regulations.

Any company or organization that wants to sell information technology
products to the U.S. federal government, or which has a customer with such a
requirement, is governed by Section 508. Communications products are
governed by Section 255.

The first version of Section 508 was published in the Federal Register on
December 21, 2000. Come to this meeting to find out what the new version
will look like.

If you have any interest whatsoever in making electronic information
accessible, this is the meeting to attend! Please also pass this notice
along to acquaintances that may be interested.

The meeting will be held in the La Cava Center at Bentley
College<http://www.bentley.edu/>(
http://www.bentley.edu/) in Waltham, Massachusetts.
