The Interactive Web Designer will be responsible for design and development
of HTML pages and content layout for website, advertising banners and
landing pages. This person would work closely with the marketing, editorial,
and product management teams. A strong design background and experience will
allow the Interactive Web Designer to create high level mockups of user
interfaces and interactions. Our client will provide an opportunity to
showcase creativity, leadership skills, strong work ethic and passion for
web design. The candidate will bring a combination of graphic design skills
and technical knowledge in
order to improve the usability and attractiveness of web-based resources. 

This role will be split between two major initiatives: 50% of the role will
be future product enhancements, redesigns, and improvements over current web
experiences. The remaining 50% will be to manage day-to-day business needs
for graphic requests and banner creation. 

Job Responsibilities: 
* Conceptualize and create intuitive, engaging, and brand-consistent user
interfaces. 
* Function as the key designer for digital projects, banners, creating
wireframes, concept mockups and creating a compelling visual design that
supports the product requirements. 
* Provide thought-leadership on web design best practices and
next-generation digital trends while maintaining a user-centered design
focus. 
* Oversees the visual design of our e-news products. 
* Design of interactive materials, such as Flash products, layouts and
animated sequences. 
* Ability to take direction and complete tasks quickly and efficiently. 
* Work effectively with marketing, editors and other creative/production
team members. 
* Participate and collaborate in concept development and design ideation
with business managers to help define an online creative strategy. 
* Provide design thought leadership to the company. 
* Creating and effectively arranging graphics, images and all other content
into a creative, cohesive and visually-stimulating end-user experience. 
* Overseeing the maintenance of design standards, guidelines and best
practices. 
* Handling all requests for web-ready images. This includes optimizing and
repurposing existing images for the web and creating any other images
requested of the team. 
* Help build brand identity, advise on marketing strategies, and provide
overall web design support on a variety of projects. 

The ideal candidate will possess: 
* 3-5 years experience with web and/or interactive design, preferably at a
major (high traffic) public web site. 
* Familiarity with Web 2.0 best-practices with supporting portfolio. 
* A solid understanding of typography, color, composition, hierarchy and how
these elements work together to design solutions. 
* Exceptional conceptual thinker, able to create innovative designs that
meet specific target audience, client, technology and product requirements. 
* Able to create front-end prototypes and mock ups. 
* Deadline-oriented, flexible, organized and able to handle multiple
priorities. 
* Experience designing web applications, with a solid understanding of
information design, user-interface best practices, and the constraints of
designing for online products. 
* Thorough knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash & Dreamweaver. 
* Strong understanding of HTML and CSS. 
* Basic understanding of JavaScript and PHP. 
* Ability to execute projects accurately and quickly. 
* Excellent communication skills.
