I am starting to research the best design for an online company directory/index. Each of the companies and organizations included will fall into one over-arching market. Within this market companies or organizations might fall into sub categories–so perhaps the use of tags would be helpful. Search would also need to be conducted by the starting letter. The concept is to initially make the directory populated by the creator, but eventually the idea is to allow the community to populate the directory.
Does anyone have examples of online directories that they find exemplary? Are there any examples of directories that use search based by tags and the first letter of the organization? I find the TechCrunch Company Index to be useful. Does anyone have critique for this type of structure? http://www.techcrunch.com/company-index/ ________________________________________________________________ Welcome to the Interaction Design Association (IxDA)!
