The site of the Dutch Railways uses a tab metaphor with a color transition if the user clicks one of the tabs.
http://tinyurl.com/tab-transition I think they implemented this to draw the user's attention to the fact that the content has changed. A better example is in their planning module. They always offer several alternatives, but these alternative look so similar, that you might not notice that the content has changed.
