Friendster is currently seeking a Senior User Experience and Interaction Designer to establish, direct and implement the design strategy for the Friendster suite of products. This position will be a member of the Product team and will be responsible for taking a user-centered design approach to create the best user experience for the Friendster user base, while taking business, marketing and engineering requirements into consideration.
Define the overall design strategy for Friendster. Lead interaction and visual design throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial explorations through final design deliverables. Work closely with product managers and developers to define overall product direction and UI requirements. Work across different functional teams to create designs that balance the end users needs with the overall business and marketing objectives. Translate usability and field research findings into new visual designs and interactions. Communicate design strategy and rationale to key stakeholders. Create design specifications and communicate designs to the team at large. Promote the value of a user-centered design approach within the organization. Implement best design practices to make Friendster a best in class social networking site with products that deliver the highest quality user experience. The first task for this designer will be to lead the design efforts of the website re-fresh. Mandatory Skills Bachelors or Masters degree in relevant field (Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Computer Human Interaction, Digital Media Design ) or equivalent work experience 5+ years user experience/user interaction web development experience through the full product development cycle of several successfully launched web, mobile, and/or software applications Ability to prioritize among competing opportunities, balance consumer needs with business priorities, retain focus on key goals, and articulate the rationale behind decisions Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems and can convey ideas into tangible form Strong time-management and independent-judgment skills required Solid understanding of current web technologies Proven ability to work with cross functional teams (ideally across different regions) Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Must be enthusiastic and work well with others Passion for developing innovative interfaces
