I agree and I'd also suggest that if you work in, or are studying deeper cognitive activities like learning via technology mediated means, then this is probably pretty important, too.
I don't have formal psychology training but am presently doing an MA in Learning and Technology, while my background is web design and IX/UX. Right now, my interests are very focused on the role and potential for social software. Cognitive psychology is fairly large in the overall area of learning.
