While six sigma isn't central to my role (though I am comfortable with statistics because of my previous research experience), some of the research done in my present work has been useful in highlighting process problems that can be resolved, in part, by my work. It's a tool for insight into something, no more and no less, and can help in some situations. I don't see it as a regular part of my job though.
