Subject matter notwithstanding, the Mac OSX-esque artist scroll
loading on every single page (other than, it seems, the last two in
the nav) and then madly scrolling to land on LL Cool J seems like
overkill.

If I was going to use an effect like that, I would only use something
that intense when searching those artists was the primary task for
that page or section of the site.

Is there logic as to why it defaults to that artist? Perhaps an
effect where, when presenting the search for artists, the page could
use Ajax or something to bring up options as users key in letters for
the name.

It's nice looking but way too much of that effect for my liking, as
it draws attention away from the content above it which is presumably
the point of the page.
