Hi Anne,

The only test I can think of, is using JavaScript to measure the
download time of an image.

See the source code of:
http://www.ylab.nl/lab/speedtest.html

This script ignores the overhead of the http-request. So it's no
precise method, but it gives a rough indication. 

In a real situation it would be better to measure the download time
of an image you need for the webpage anyhow.
