Hi all (apologies if you receive more than one of this notice) The STC UK and Ireland chapter is having a two-day conference on accessibility in Cambridge, UK on 13th and 14th June.
They have assembled a variety of top speakers on different aspects of accessibility, including designing for all, learning about signing, meeting the needs of Deaf people, and what's happening in the world of standards and accessibility. The full conference is a bargain at only £235 for both days, with generous discounts for members of STC and affiliated organisations. http://www.designtoread.com/STCUK2009 It's at the Møller Centre, which offers high-quality hotel-style rooms with wireless and wired Internet access, and (astonishingly for Cambridge) ample free parking. The rooms cost £87 per night plus VAT. If you want a room, book *really quickly* - as of today, 18th May, there were only 9 rooms left. http://www.mollercentre.co.uk/accommodation/index.html I went to the STC UK conference on visual design and it was truly the best conference I'd ever been to: every single presentation was top-notch and the variety was really impressive. Don't miss out on this one.
