Christine, it's OT, but since the virtual memory was invented, programs *never* crash as a consequence of running out of memory (except for some special cases, like running out of address space, but I doubt your firefox would consume 4GBs of memory). The source of crash is elsewhere - some runaway FF extension, or (mostly) badly written plugin - write a list of your addons and plugins, and try disabling them one by one.
