Apart from the recent "Design & Emotion" work Don Norman has been
pushing forward (mentioned in the link Mike Myles just posted), I
would definitely recommend taking a look at the work of Noam
Tractinsky, from Ben-Gurion University:

http://www.ise.bgu.ac.il/faculty/noam/research/aesthetics.html

His paper "Aesthetics and Apparent Usability: Empirically Assessing
Cultural and Methodological Issues" (Tractinsky, N. 1997, CHI 97
Conference Proceedings, Atlanta, March 22-27, 1997, ACM, New York,
pp. 115-122) would still be a reference to me in terms of the
relationship between Aesthetics and Usability.
