Thanks for your thoughts. I think this topic is so interesting - while there are drawbacks to video, it is still quite appealing.
Ivan, perhaps my choice of words was misleading. By popping up, I mean they are present on many websites, not literally popping off the page, as I think you may have interpreted=) Transcripts are helpful, but can costly to produce. However, as you stated, William, there are advantages to this solution. But what about consumer generated videos? Low cost video capture devices and quicker connection speeds, will surely increase the amount of UGC video content. Even photo site like - like shutterfly - allow users to upload share video.
