Alrighty folks, for some this is probably good news; for others,
you'll have to wait until I get my new blog up and running to hear me
rant about all things design related in the tech sector.
I'm signing off the list.
Why? I've decided to take a position at Yahoo! to help in the design
of their applications with a heavy focus on next generation products
and emerging markets. I'm leaving Involution Studios in the hands of
my more than capable business partner of five years, Dirk Knemeyer.
It's been a blast running my own design studio, but there's not many
opportunities in one's career where working on products that hundreds
of millions of people use crosses one's path. I was lucky enough to
have it happen early in my career with Adobe Systems, and now the
opportunity is presenting itself again with Yahoo! So after a lot of
thought, I've decided to join the ranks of Yahoos everywhere and see
what I can do back in that mix.
Given my role and position over at Yahoo!, I've decided it would be
best for me to avoid causing controversy for my new employer via the
IxDA mailing list, but I'm sure I'll say things at future conferences
where some of you can still have your IxDA villain. And for what's it
worth: Yes, I still believe that if you don't learn how to draw and
sketch and make things with your own two hands, you are not a
designer. There, I said it.
My decision to stop contributing to this list nothing to do with the
IxDA organization or anyone on the list, and more to do with the fact
I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut. Please see: Previous
paragraph.

do all of the graphic, interaction and information design along with
being expected to code your own front-end prototypes at some level and
have a vital role in product vision, please feel free to contact me.
I'll be looking for top tier talent to help to add to Yahoo's ranks.
And yes, I thought a long while before choosing my title, so consider
this message my final word on the whole semantic argument about the
interface v. interaction v. user experience design debate.
