Jennifer - This was mentioned earlier, but of course you need to let customers know what credit cards you accept well in advance of the checkout. For example, when we did not used to take Amex on our site, I had companies contacting me because they had got to the checkout and could not use their company Amex card. The purchases were large enough that they did not want to use their personal MasterCard or Visa. We had to arrange payment through another process (PayPal or similar). Getting all the way to the credit card dropdown list only to discover that you cannot use the card in your hand does not make for a good experience!
