So if we are to lend from anyone it should be from areas, that don't see their work as a monument to be admired from afar but as a an environment to be actively used every day.
Which, as far as I know, sums up pretty well the guiding values of most professional architects, teachers of architecture and theorists of architecture.
The "monument" mindset in/on architecture seems to be perpetuated mainly by glossy magazines and coffee-table books (and the occasional Art History scholar).
