I work in the medical software space. The biggest problem is not how to display the information (UI, etc.; socially or cloud etc.) but how to convert all the static data out there into one format.
I don't think governments can mandate it. I don't think it's going to ever happen because there are those who feel once their records are freely accessible by more than their chosen physician their privacy rights are being violated. At its simplest level, many clinics store their data in Access databases, separate from any shareable system. What I want to know is, who is going to step up and convert all this static data to a dynamic system? No one wants to discuss this and I find it ironic. We can't move forward with any system without addressing this data issue first. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
