Thursday November 12, 2009

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Colleagues,
You are local to the Seattle/Puget Sound area, we invite you to speak
at the the World Usability Day events on Microsoft campus on November
12. Come and share your best practices and network with the local UX
community.

*** IF YOU WOUL LIKE TO SPEAK AT THE EVENT, RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL (do
not "reply all", please!) WITH A PROPOSAL FOR A TALK OR A PANEL BY
EOD OCTOBER 15.***

About the event
On Nov 12, Microsoft hosts a day-long free event for the Puget Sound
UX practitioners and members of related engineering disciplines. You
and your teams are invited to attend in-person at Microsoft campus in
Redmond or join the sessions online. Full program of the event and
links to online broadcast will be posted by October 30.

Your target audience
-- Your peers at the Puget Sound UX community and worldwide
-- Your colleagues in related non-UX disciplines (Product Management,
Development, Test, Planning, Marketing)
-- Your future UX colleagues from local universities

Your theme:
Designing for Sustainability (see details below)

Talks & Panel Discussions
-- A talk is a 20-minute presentation, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A.
Talks are typically accompanied by a visual presentation. The
20-minute format ensures that more ideas get shared in a crisp and
succinct manner.
-- A panel discussion is a 30-minute shared conversation with more
than one presenter. It may or may not include a concurrent visual
presentation.

Designing for Sustainability
Sustainable design supports environmental components by promoting a
whole lifecycle approach to design. It explicitly encourages all
those involved in design to consider the longer-term implications of
their system for their users and therefore for the environment.
Sustainable design directly addresses two pillars, economic and
social. More about this year’s theme.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the event
