I have noticed that the lag (or latency) has improved considerably from a year ago, when the flight attendants would announce "be patient and wait for the system to respond." So tehre have been software improvements.
When I think of the alternative -- remote-input device attached to a cable, or no personal entertainment system at all -- I much prefer the touch screen. Let me know if you find the sweet spot easter egg.
