It's up to the individual who takes the suggestion to remember. It's not up to the individual who made the suggestion to remind.
Of course, if you make a recommendation to your boss and do not issue a reminder, he might wrongly infer that you're not on your game, when it's really him who is not on his game. While it's always helpful to help the boss, technically speaking, if reminding your boss about his luggage is not in your job description, then you are absolved of that responsibility. He's an adult. He should figure it out himself. If you're an assistant to your boss, then yes, one could surmise you are at fault for not playing the assistants role. An assistant "assists," and is therefore responsible for reminding the boss about something deemed important in the grand scheme of things. If your job description requires you to travel with your boss and provide professional services for the organization, then reminding your boss about where he left his luggage should not fall on your shoulders. Why your boss wants to stay in White Plains, instead of in the city where his meetings are, is another issue altogether. I'm assuming its because you flew into Westchester or you have other clients in the Westchester area. If not, then you have to wonder what the thinking is for a boss that can't spring for hotel rooms in the city. Or, why you didn't drop the luggage at the hotel in the first place. Sounds to me like you came in from Kennedy, LGA or Newark and he was unable to drop the luggage in White Plains. If you did come into Westchester, then maybe enough time should have been left between the flight and first meeting to check in first, drop the luggage, and then go to the meeting. Why this bothers you enough to vent on the IxDA list? Only you can answer that, LOL. Why am I answering this...because it's fun to chit chat and ignore all the work I have to do!
