FILTER is seeking a strong UX Designer with Industrial Design experience for a one-year contract opportunity in Redmond. This position is with a start-up project within a larger design team that creates world class end-to-end experiences. The team is charged with ensuring full integration of brand, industrial design, user interface, graphic design, usability and business strategy.
The UX Designer will be responsible for designing user interfaces for web, software and/or hardware products. Writing functionality design specifications, designing and implementing prototypes and mock ups, performing task analysis, usability studies, wire framing and more will also be part of this role. The ability to generate design ideas and present them to a group is crucial. Driving design for a wide range of user behaviors and interaction models, the designer will employ strategic and creative thinking to craft innovative and effective solutions. WHAT YOULL BE DOING * Lead the creation, development, refinement and documentation of innovative and compelling industrial design solutions * Drive design for a wide range of user behaviors and interaction models * Work closely with interaction designers, user researchers, ergonomics, marketers, software engineers and hardware engineers in a highly collaborative environment * Design user interfaces for web, software, hardware products; write functionality design specifications; design and implement prototypes, mock ups, task analysis, usability studies, personas, user flows, wireframes, style guides, navigational structures and affinity diagrams * Generating design ideas * Presenting and selling designs to product group * Understanding customer needs and motivations to integrate into product design * Act as consultant to other team leads * May manage external production and design resources SKILLS YOULL NEED * 5+ years of experience with at least 2 years in a lead role, leading designers for high-quality consumer electronic products for high-volume markets within a team environment * Strong project management, communication and presentation skills * A portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in related fields * Intrinsic passion for seamless hardware/software integration * Strong interest in and aptitude for learning new technologies and design skills * Additional, hands-on experience in a secondary field such as interaction design, mechanical engineering, software engineering, etc. is highly desired as is experience in the field of human-computer interaction * Proficiency in 3D, Studio tools or similar CAD package, Photoshop, Illustrator, knowledge preferred * Strong written and oral communication skills are required * Education requirements include either an industrial design or highly related field, or a BA/BS in industrial design with significant industry experience A BIT ABOUT FILTER FILTER is a full-service creative resources company that connects industry-leading companies with the very best creative talent throughout the West Coast.
