Another class of applications that also helps users enter large
detailed records are income tax apps like TurboTax.  I suppose its
the same as the dell example of a sequential, guided workflow that
allows you to save at any point and always keeps you updated on your
total progress.  I guess the difference is that the dell example you
are choosing from pre-defined options where in an tax app you need to
have more flexibility to allow for a wide range of different scenarios
based on the data the user enters.   Also, don't forget to consider
what happens before and after the user is done with the task.  In
this example, turbotax can preload previous tax years information for
address, personal info, etc which speeds the process.  Essentially,
you are providing a template to start with, something that may fit
your problem.  After you are finished, the app allows you to print a
full copy for review or mailing, etc.
