We recently made a similar change in our apps. We had "Save &
Close" and "Cancel" as standard buttons in our web app. We've
been reworking our UI, and one of the changes to our standard is that
all buttons should only perform a single function. Thus we've moved
to a "Save" and a "Close" button. Now the users can save w/o
exiting (which they couldn't do before). The downside side is that
to Save and Exit requires two button clicks, and we also need to trap
the Close event to warn the user if they haven't saved. Its more
work on the backend but should be more usable for the user. We
won't know for sure until we test it, which is a couple months away
at this point. I'd love to know if anyone has previously tested
this already.
