Actually, AppleInsider wrote an article about app file sharing, and

It still does not explain how one iPad will access another one, but
Apple
provide the framework to do that.

I'm puzzled by this concern.
My expectation is that the iPad will be like the iPhone and iPod, an
accessory to you main system. You'll periodically synch the iPad via
iTunes, and the files from iWork will then be accessible from some
location on the main system (like
User>Documents>iWork>Numbers>Synched>My iPad). To put an existing
file up to the iPad, you put it in a folder and synch via iTunes. To
share, you copy it from iPad #1's folder into iPad #2's folder, and
synch.
Okay, as I think about it, that's not the Apple way, because it relies
too much on knowing where stuff is on the system. More likely might
be commands in Numbers on the Mac for Retrieve from iPad and Push to
iPad, allowing you to select the one that is connected. Retrieve from
one, attach other, push to other.
Anyway, since iWork on the iPad is useless if you can get existing
files one and off the device, I have no concern that I'll be able to
do it. Beyond that, the details matter little. (And I have faith
that it will be cool and clever and work well.)
