*In Austin for SXSW? Join locals and other visiting IxDA-ers for breakfast!* * * *WHEN:* *Monday, March 15, 8:30 am* Yes, it's early, but we don't want you to miss too much of the conference. You likely miss the first session, but you were probably going to miss it anyway, right?
*WHERE:* *Cisco's Bakery* To save you time and trouble, locals will pick you up at the Convention center and shuttle you to breakfast a few minutes away. We'll be dining at Cisco's, a well known old-school dive on the East side that's chock-full of 60 years of local history. Tex Mex, biscuits, and butter in a bottle. 'Nuff said? By the way, Tex Mex is great hangover food. * NOW WHAT? If you'd like to join us, please send an email to [email protected]. We'll send you the pickup location upon RSVP. Space is limited, and I'll need a fairly accurate head count to ensure rides and room for everyone, so please RSVP thoughtfully. Look forward to seeing you! -tori PS. As much as we'd like to get your breakfast, it's BYOB (buy your own breakfast). * * * *Some background on Cisco's:* > Cisco's is a bakery, hence the flour tortillas. The restaurant business was > a sideline and they didn't take it very seriously in the old days. In the > secluded rear dining room there used to be a self-serve crockpot full of > pinto beans with a little sign that said: "Tex-Mex Salad Bar." Cisco's > became famous for breakfast thanks to LBJ. When LBJ told Rudy Cisneros to > make him a Bloody Mary one morning in the 1960s, Rudy said, "But I don't > have a liquor license." LBJ wrote "liquor license" on a napkin, signed it, > and told Rudy to go get the damn tomato juice and vodka. The place has a liquor license now, but I still get the runny > huevos rancheros and flour tortillas for breakfast when I visit. http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Issue/story?oid=oid%3A671820 ________________________________________________________________ Welcome to the Interaction Design Association (IxDA)!
