Hot Diggety! Benjamin Krueger was rumored to have written:

Final update: settlement was announced yesterday:

Essence of LMSD's stated reason for settlement: avoid further legal bills.

I'm very doubtful of their claim that had the plaintiffs contacted the
school district without taking legal action, they'd have had made the
necessary changes on their own. Perhaps in an alternate universe... :)

A better attorney taking the high road would have had simply left out
the unnecessary pot shot at the plaintiffs and left out the statement
they could've prevailed at trial. Would've sufficed simply to outline
the settlement and move on.

Nonwithstanding certain comments made by LMSD in their settlement
announcement, I do give them credit for going about the revised policy
the right way: open, transparent way, with much community involvement as
well as better research on what should be revised.

Credit also given for quickly disabling this function while policy was
being revised and in keeping the public informed about case updates.

The revised policy appears to be much better as well.

One still wonders what will become of the two suspended IT workers in
limbo for so long -- back to work or being fired/pushed out?
