Not true, we send/receive mail all the time. But the EC2 IPs do tend  
to get blacklisted, so I wouldn't use it as an outbound MX. One of the  
blacklists (sorbs?) has all of EC2 listed. We are using elastic IPs,  
maybe they have special port 25 powers?
