Of course, you are correct.  I never even thought about that!  Thanks Randal.  
If only you had said that in your first response, instead of "{sigh}". :-)

And yes, I should be quoting the uses of "$m" to avoid any weird shell meta 
characters or spaces that might be in the file names.  But if any of David's 
.meta files are actually directories, I think he's got bigger problems.
