I've started only installing 64-bit OSs because (1) it reduces the number of configurations I have to maintain by half, (2) any 32-bit system that I install is a system that I will regret when in the future when I find that I have software that requires (or works better with) 64-bit libraries, etc.
The 64-bit architecture is just plain cleaner. No PAE craziness, etc. Simplicity means less chance of hard-to-track bugs.
