Sorry I didn't get a chance to get this out before now, but I just wanted to say that I had a really great time at the first LOPSA-NYC meeting on Tuesday. We had right around 30 people show up, and it was excellent to meet everyone in person. I'm looking forward to seeing the group grow and mature as time goes on, and we've got an excellent base to start from.
Huge thanks go to both Doug Hughes and D.E. Shaw for hosting us, and also to John Allspaw, who stepped up and delivered an outstanding presentation on how we can work toward better availability through cooperation with other business units. I've spoken with several people who have office space available, so I'll be announcing where the next meeting will be in the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime, we should decide if the second Tuesday of the month is best. Brian Gupta pointed out that LispNYC and RubyNYC, along with the occasional NYCLUG workshops meet on that night. Does anyone know a night that _isn't_ a conflict with one group or another? If so, we should consider that, so please let me know. Second, I have some ideas for potential speakers, but I haven't contacted anyone yet. Anyone have any ideas for people in the area they'd like to hear from? --Matt -- LITTLE GIRL: But which cookie will you eat FIRST? COOKIE MONSTER: Me think you have misconception of cookie-eating process. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
