The name *is* important. The name keeps me from posting LOPSA materials at work. Now that I am in a non-academic environment I do not have a LOPSA sticker on my laptop. I *would* post materials if they sounded like they came from a professional organization, but I can't be explaining "LOPSA" to everyone who sees the name across the room, if they don't ask.
And when they *do* ask, usually it's accompanied by a head-shake and a "Seriously? That's a professional group?" Honestly, it's *embarrassing" I was one of the original members because I believe in the group and what we're trying to do, but having an embarrassing name is a huge HUGE obstacle. I'm not exaggerating. Getting laughed at isn't what we're hoping for. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
