I ordered a bunch of references that would be required for a
'short topic on system adminstration' covering ESD as it relates
to dealing with hardware.

My Co-author for "the book of xen" is also interested in doing a
short topic on virtualization with me, with an aim more towards
helping a sysadmin who gets a box dropped in his or her lap rather
than aiming towards giving you a overview of the field. Like I
said, as it stands now, we have nobody to do the VMware bits, though.

I don't think LOPSA has come to consensus on any of those topics
(or even on the idea of publishing "short topics on system adminsitration"
booklets) but I think the idea is cool enough to move on it myself.

I figure the process should be write something and then figure out
how to publish. (my thought is to publish electronic versions gratis
and then charge for physical copies, either by printing up a bunch ourselves
or by going through a traditional publisher, with that decision
made based on the cost of copyeditors and the goodness of getting
into retail locations ('pocket guides' as far as I can tell, sell
okay everywhere. If the 'pocket guides' at B&N or at Fry's have
LOPSA logos? that sounds like credibility and publicity to me.) vs
the cut the publisher wants. I personally think print on demand
would not be so good as the minimum cost is usually much higher
than the minimum cost to print a couple thousand books at once.)

Please note, for those of you who don't know me, it took me
and another guy /three years/ to finish the book of xen.
Now, a short topic won't take that long, but the point is,
if I say I'm working on something, you probably shouldn't count
on it being done next week.
