SCALE 9x had strong representation from our LOPSA members this year, starting
with our SCALE University instructors:
http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale9x/special-events/scale-university
and our SCALE booth presence this year. We had our largest ever attendance for
the LOPSA SCALE University classes, e.g., strong attendance at Ski's and
Alexsey's classes, and a full house at Matt's class. In addition, our own David
Lang was involved in supporting the wireless access this year.
How big was the show? Per the official SCALE mailing list on Saturday morning:
"SCALE 9X has had nearly 1,600 attendees get badges for the show, with 300 paid
tickets still outstanding."
I also want to publicly praise Dan Rich and Ski Kacoroski, who did the setup
and
teardown, and manned the LOPSA booth full time for the weekend. This is a often
invisible and thankless job - I want to make sure other members know of their
significant contribution of volunteer time and professionalism.
If I missed your contribution to SCALE's success, please speak up. My own
participation at the show was curtailed due to urgent unexpected family
business and illness. I urge others in attendance to comment on what they
consider highlights of the show, as instructors, staff, or audience members.
