In addition to LOPSA, I belong to a few other groups. Among them is IGDA ,International Game Developers Association. This group is for anyone who is involved in the video game industry. In addition to the expected producers, developers, artists, and musicians, you'll also find people from other parts of the industry including HR and IT.
I thought this was an interesting note from the IGDA Board last week: http://igdaboard.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/important-advisory-about-amazon%E2%80%99s-appstore-distribution-terms-2/ This was an open letter to their members, the industry and Amazon expressing concern for some aspects of the Amazon Appstore license. In addition to notifying their members, and acting as an advocate for the industry, they got some good press, which raised their visibility. This wasn't lobbying, or any attempt to influence legislation, so no problems for their IRS status. Just a well-reasoned analysis of the license, calling their members' and the industry's attention to some details of the Amazon license. Are there any areas where LOPSA should be speaking out? --tep
