ShadowProtect does this for the most part, as does Replay4 from AppAssure. They both can fail over to different hardware or VMs, but yes you will have to reactivate windows within 3 days or whatever it is now. For the most part this technology works, but it's not perfect. Sometimes you get an odd adapter that needs a special driver, etc., if the hardware is not the same. So if you need to recover to a cold standby box within an hour or two, you guessed it, you need to test it! As far as moving between hardware types with dos/win 3.1.1, I bet that doesn't work/isn't supported. XP onward will work. 2000 might work, again you need to test. I've run it with XP, 2003, Vista, and that all works fine. 2008 should as well. Nick
