I've been bothered by Congress calling us nerds instead of experts for a while.
When I call my Congressman to lobby on an issue I care about related to my
expertise I identify myself as a professional system and network administrator,
not a nerd or a geek. When Congress needs the Joint Chiefs of Staff or other
military advice do they mock them by saying they need leathernecks or jarheads
to explain something to them? No. They ask for the experts. It is the same
across other disciplines, too.

I was happy to see John Stewart set the record straight. It sure would be nice
to see the message proliferate.
