Dan> It looks like I will be needing to replace my Dell machine running ubuntu.
Dan> What is a good source for such a machine? A tower configuration Dan> is prefered. Other detaied requirements are probably simple to Dan> get. newegg.com and building it yourself. In some ways you can't beat the prices of Dell/HP/Lenovo machines because they have great buying power, but building it yourself is a great way to learn tradeoffs and get exactly what you want. Personally, lots of memory, low end graphics since I don't game much, basic audio and plenty of CPU. Voila, instant machine. Oh yeah, a pair of nice disks to mirror across and possibly an SSD if you reboot alot or need screaming performance. If you want to go the Dell route, I've had good luck on the Dell Outlet site in the past, lots of decent deals on systems returned for one reason or another.
