The IT Manager works with and manages the Server and Desktop specialist to manage the network, servers and clients, telecommunication systems, and helpdesk, to meet the operational and pedagogical goals of Key School. Overarching responsibilities • Responsible for the overall health of the network infrastructure; monitors availability and performance of all network systems and takes corrective action where necessary to bring systems back into normal operation. • Manages and works on the school helpdesk in conjunction with the Server and Desktop Specialist, ensuring problems are resolved in a timely fashion and to the satisfaction of all end users. • Oversees the Server and Desktop Specialist, providing guidance on work priorities, mentoring to ensure he or she is growing to meet the school’s needs, and serving as a point of escalation for technical issues beyond his or her capabilities. • Plans and executes the implementation of new or upgraded technology systems to ensure Key’s IT infrastructure is in keeping with industry‐accepted norms. • Works in partnership with school administration and the Academic Technology Department Chair to plan the long‐term direction of Key’s IT systems, ensuring both operating and pedagogical needs are met. • Provides advice and implementation assistance to staff offices in using technology to streamline work processes. • Manages the school’s telecommunication infrastructure, including the on‐campus telephone and PA systems, and off‐campus communication links. • Coordinates and maintains all technology‐related vendor relationships. • Serves as primary database manager for PCR Campus, Key’s Student Information System; provides assistance and training to end users, reporting and data management support to offices, and interfaces with PCR support staff where necessary; provides support for other campus database systems and LMS. • Manages the school’s staff technology, telephony and IT infrastructure budgets. A successful candidate will posses: • Minimum five year’s experience providing technology support in an independent school setting; • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators; • A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience; • Familiarity with a multi‐platform network, blending Windows, Mac OS X and iPads with local and cloud‐based tools. Desired technical experience • 3 ‐ 5 years experience managing Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and DFS • 3 ‐ 5 years experience maintaining Microsoft Exchange 2007 ‐ 2013 • 3 ‐ 5 years experience administering Microsoft SQL Server versions 2005 ‐ 2012 • 2 ‐ 3 years experience managing a multi‐host, SAN‐connected, VMware vSphere platform • 3 ‐ 5 years managing segmented wired and wireless networks • 5 ‐ 7 years experience in the provisioning and management of Windows desktops, using tools such as Group Policy, Sysprep, Windows Automated Installation Kit, redirected folders and roaming and mandatory profiles • 2 ‐ 3 years experience in managing Mac OS X machines in an Active Directory network • 5 ‐ 7 years experience working and operating on an IT helpdesk, providing support to end‐users • 5 ‐ 7 years experience in repairing and troubleshooting computer hardware • Facility with scripting languages such as VBscript and Powershell for system’s management • A basic understanding of SQL for simple reporting queries • Familiarity with managing iPads in 1:1 or cart‐based environments using mobile‐device management systems and/or Apple Configurator • Knowledge of HP ProCurve switches, Fortinet firewalls, and Ruckus Wireless network hardware a plus
